Refrigerants

Ozone absorbs harmful ultraviolet radiation which is produced by the sun. Excessive ultraviolet radiation can damage cells of living things – plants, animals and people. Ice Kube Systems equipment uses refrigerant R410A which does not damage the ozone layer.

Ice Kube Systems heat pumps are designed modularly. If a building requires 120 tons (422kW) of air conditioning capacity the system is designed with 4 – 30 tons heat pumps instead of a single 120-ton chiller. Each heat pump contains only 20 pounds (9kilograms) of refrigerant. This virtually eliminates the potential of a large refrigerant leak.

Using several smaller units in place of a large single chiller builds a high level of redundancy into the system, virtually eliminating the possibility of the entire system shutting down.
