Ceiling Mounted Fan Coil Units
Hydronic fan coils designed to provide adequate space heating with 110 deg. F (43 deg. C) entering water temperatures help make hydronic geothermal heat pumps operate more efficiently. These compact fan coils are designed with a height of 10" (250 mm) or 14" (400 mm). They will fit easily above suspended ceilings in most office spaces or above washrooms in hotel rooms without dropping the ceiling too much.
The fan coils are ideal for multi-zone offices, school classrooms, hotel rooms and apartments. Properly integrated into a geothermal system, one area of a building can be in heating mode while another area can be in air conditioning mode. The zones in cooling mode would then be supplying a portion of the heat delivered to the zones in heating mode.
A single water-to-water heat pump can provide 60,000 btuh (5 tons or 17.6 kW) of cooling, and at the same time provide 85,000 btuh (25 kW) of heating, using only 8 kW of energy...an effective COP of 5.4, if both heating and cooling are used simultaneously!
