Packer Arena

Austin, MN

Packer Arena, Austin, MNPacker Arena view to the lobby The new Packer Arena in Austin, MN was completed in 2001 to provide additional ice time for the community hockey players and skaters. The patented "Thermal Storage Buffer" rink floor design eliminates the header trench at the end of the rink and the unserviceable header located under the rink surface. The rink pipe headers are located in the mechanical room to facilitate service, and to allow the rink pipe to be placed to conform to the shape of the rink and eliminate the frozen concrete outside the rink corners.
Packer Arena ice rink A horizontal loop stores heat in the earth when it isn't needed to heat the building or change rooms. Two heat pumps provide heating and air conditioning in the lobby and office areas. Heat recovery ventilation units provide fresh air to the change rooms.
